Exercise Lite has its place. Part 1

* With the vast majority of American people out of shape and reluctant to pursue their individual target zones, a “bridge” is needed to convince the sedentary that exercise does not have to be a “no-pain, no-gain” scenario. Now, we’re not talking about those 10 to 15 percent who regularly partake [in exercise]., “Exercise Lite” will not be a motivator for them. However, it can add some niceties to what quickly can become the same mundane workout. For most, exercise is just like a chore, they know they should do it, they know the benefits that can be obtained but, for, one reason or another, they just can’t seem to get started. Some of those reasons are:

They don’t know how to begin.

They’re fearful of fitness centers/health clubs where “fit” people are.

They feel they won’t enjoy using exercise equipment machines.

They can’t or don’t want to spend the money.

Exercise Lite is the answer for these individuals. It provides a varied menu of activities that people know how to do or can easily learn. It doesn’t always mandate a trip to a facility, often incurs little or no expense, and the individual can participate in activities that he/she will enjoy. What a way to get people (re)introduced back into physical activity, otherwise better known as exercise. After all, as health professionals, isn’t that our ultimate goal?
